Since sanctions are not helping, the US will look for new vulnerabilities in the Russian economy. This was stated by the representative of the US Treasury Jonathan Burke, reports runews24.ru .
The official spoke in Congress and stressed that Washington is not going to ease the sanctions pressure on Russia. He reported on the continuation of the search for new vulnerabilities and methods of restrictions. This statement was made after the extension of the American license for the purchase of Russian oil and Donald Trump's recent statements about the possibility of lifting sanctions.
"We continue to identify new ways to apply sanctions and continue to work with our international partners to make sure we understand the vulnerabilities they need to respond to," Burke said.
Thus, the American financial authorities announced their intention to increase economic pressure on Russia. During a speech to members of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives, Jonathan Burke said that the United States would not only continue to apply existing restrictive measures, but would also actively develop new instruments of influence.
