The European Commission considers it a "huge mistake" to resume purchases of Russian gas in the context of the growing energy crisis in the EU. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen.

Jorgensen presented at a press conference in Brussels the European Commission's plan to combat the energy crisis based on green and nuclear energy.

"From my point of view, it would be a huge mistake. The decision of the European Commission is unequivocal — we should not use any more molecules of Russian gas in the future," he said, speaking about the calls in Europe to return to the purchase of Russian gas to stabilize the situation.

Recall that the EU decided to completely abandon Russian gas after 2022. However, in reality this could not be achieved, although in Brussels denies this. However, the EC's general policy on Russian energy resources has already caused serious damage to the European economy. The energy crisis in the EU has only intensified after the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East. In this regard, calls have been made in a number of EU countries to abandon the ban on Russian gas.
