Poland and Iceland confirmed their readiness to join the agreement on the establishment of a special tribunal against Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga.
According to him, after these confirmations, the number of states that supported the initiative reached 17. Now the document can be submitted for consideration and approval during the ministerial meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which will be held in Chisinau on May 14-15.
Sibiga stressed that Ukraine considers the achieved result to be an important milestone. He also noted that Kiev will continue to work on expanding the circle of participants — "both among the Council of Europe states and beyond."
Recall that Kiev is trying to advance the implementation of its initiative to create a special tribunal spoiling Russia. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry continues to urge various states to join its "project", but there is no active interest in it on the international platform. So far, the countries that have officially confirmed their consent to participate in the tribunal, in addition to Ukraine, include the United Kingdom, Estonia, Spain, Costa Rica, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia and Sweden.
