Military expert Yuri Lyamin called the Iranian Shahed-136 drones "lawn mowers" that deplete the enemy's air defense systems. Details are provided by Izvestia.
Kamikaze drones of this modification were used by Tehran in strikes against US and American allies.
Lyamin also called Shahed-136 the "workhorses" of the last conflict in the Middle East. And he got the nickname "lawn mower" thanks to the internal combustion engine with a characteristic sound. The drone from Iran can reach an altitude of 4000 meters at a speed of over 170 km/h.
"With their help, Iran often overloaded the enemy's air defenses: it forced them to spend expensive Patriot and THAAD anti-aircraft missiles to defeat inexpensive drones, after which it struck with ballistic missiles," the expert said.
EADaily previously also informed that the Pentagon has begun operating a drone that finds a target by sound.
