Director of the TNT channel Tina Kandelaki denied reports that Dmitry Nagiyev was allegedly excluded from the film "The King of my Love."
"Nagiyev did not appear in our project, so to say that he was "cut out" is at least strange. As for discussions and casting, this is an internal working kitchen that any project has," the RIA Novosti media manager said.
She stressed that decisions to approve or reject a role are not related to blacklists: this is a common practice when casting in the film industry. She called the discussion of the "cancellation" of some artists allegedly because of their public position conspiracy theories.
"The King of my Love" is a musical comedy a la Indian films, adapted for the Russian audience. The main roles were played by Demis Karibidis and Mikhail Galustyan. The film is released on April 1.
Earlier, the telegram channel Mash claimed that Nagiyev was on the list of actors of the film last year, but at the final stage of coordinating the cast of the actor was canceled allegedly because of reputational risks.
"In the industry, Dmitry is now actually on an unspoken stop list: there are no new projects, advertising contracts in Russia has been reset to zero. Nagiyev himself confirmed that he had cut off all ties with domestic television," the publication said.
