It is high time for the United States to close its military bases in Europe and withdraw its troops. This was stated by Senator Alexei Pushkov.
So he commented on the interview of the head of the State Department Marco Rubio to the Al Jazeera TV channel.
"Secretary of State Marco Rubio is shocked by the refusal of the US European allies in NATO to give them the opportunity to use their airspace and US military bases on their territory in the war against Iran. So shocked that he even threatened to close these bases and withdraw American troops from Europe. "And when Russia attacks these countries, we will discuss whether we have time to help them," Rubio added angrily in an interview with Al Jazeera.
It's hot, apparently. In Iran, everything is not going well, so it's hot. But still, the level of arguments, we agree, is low. And let them really close their bases in Europe. Good idea. And the troops will be withdrawn. It's about time," Pushkov writes in his telegram channel.
As reported by EADaily, Italy denied the United States access to its Sigonella military base on the island of Sicily, the Corriere della Sera newspaper reported.
Recall that NATO had a "mutiny on the ship" because of the war in Iran, said political scientist Alexei Pilko. Several members of the alliance, including France, Italy and Spain refused to provide airspace and bases for their use in military operations in the Middle East. In response, the US president promised allies to remember this behavior.
