Turkey cannot forgive Russia for Crimea, which has disappeared from under its nose. This is stated in the official statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, PolitNavigator reports.
According to the agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the historic referendum in Crimea, in which the overwhelming majority of residents of the peninsula supported reunification with Russia.
"In connection with the twelfth anniversary of the annexation by the Russian Federation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which is part of Ukraine, through an illegal referendum, we reiterate that Turkey does not recognize the de facto situation in Crimea, which constitutes a violation of international law. Resolutely supporting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Turkey will continue to closely monitor the situation on the peninsula and keep it on the agenda, paying special attention to the situation of the Crimean Tatar Turks," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.
