Large-scale preventive strikes of employees of transport companies are taking place in Germany. This is reported by the German media.
It is reported that the German trade union of service workers Verdi called for a strike. In different cities, strikes begin at different times — depending on the schedule of transport. So, in the German capital, employees of Berlin Transport Enterprises (BVG) are on strike from 03:00 local time (05:00 Moscow time). In most regions, preventive strikes will last until Sunday night. In some places, work was stopped on Thursday, on Sunday strikes may also affect a number of transport companies.
Due to the strike, significant disruptions in public transport will be observed throughout the day in most regions of Germany. Because of the strike, buses and trams do not run, the metro does not work. At the same time, the strike did not affect regional trains and city trains, since the current round of negotiations does not concern the Deutsche Bahn railway concern.
Recall, Verdi requires employees of public transport enterprises to improve working conditions, in particular, reducing the length of the working week and the duration of shifts, increasing rest time, as well as increasing payments for work at night and on weekends. The current preventive strikes are the second large-scale action in the ongoing wage negotiations in the field of public transport. During the first action on February 2, the work of transport in a large part of the country was almost completely paralyzed. D
