The Moscow City Court approved a settlement agreement between the Soviet and Russian composer, People's Artist of Russia Alexei Rybnikov and the Apple Music platform on a lawsuit for the protection of rights to works. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Petitions for approval of the settlement agreement were sent to the court by both parties to the dispute, they testify that there are no more mutual claims.
"To approve the settlement agreement... in connection with the approval of the settlement agreement, the proceedings in the case should be terminated, the preliminary interim measures taken should be canceled," the documents say.
As reported by EADaily, earlier Rybnikov filed a lawsuit against Apple Music in court to protect the exclusive rights to 247 songs. The court took interim measures, prohibiting the platform from distributing his works, including songs from the movie "Pinocchio".
Previously, the rights to use the composer's works were transferred to the licensee, who concluded an agreement on the possibility of posting works by streaming services. However, in 2022, the contract with the licensee was terminated, and no more permissions to use the author's works were transferred to anyone. The composer himself called the rights to his music "ownerless" at that time.
Now, after the settlement of the dispute, the First Music Publishing House is engaged in streamlining the use of the rights to the composer's compositions.
