Over the past three years, many Russian cultural figures have tried to rehabilitate showman and TV presenter Ivan Urgant in a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is reported by The New York Times, citing a source who wished to remain anonymous.
However, the head of the Russian state sharply rejected such a prospect, having data on the disloyalty of the Channel One star.
The publication describes Urgant's career on Russian television in detail, calling him "the king of night humor shows (Evening Urgant)," a key figure in a popular series of New Year's movies ("Christmas Trees") and simply "an unstoppable Russian megastar."
The publication notes that after the publication of the "black square" on the page in the social network, which Urgant has not deleted so far, he was simply "erased from the public life of Russia."
"According to people who know him, he is now making money in In Russia, acting as a presenter at lavish weddings and birthdays of rich people. He works as a presenter at corporate events. Sometimes he sings at private parties with a guitar," the publication states.
It is noted that unlike other "non-combatants" Urgant remained in In Russia, but leads an inconspicuous life: still works, but not under the attentive eyes of the public; jokes, but cautiously.
"On stage in Berlin last month, he demonstrated his trademark humor, teased Khrustalev (former co-host of Evening Urgant Dmitry Khrustalev) several times and joked about spies in the audience. But the artist limited the performance to safe topics, such as German sausages and beer, and his sense of loss was obvious," the author of the publication concluded.
As EADaily reported, in February of this year, for the first time in the last three years, Urgant announced a tour without his constant colleague Vladimir Pozner with the program "Live Urgant".
In the spring, concerts were held in Haifa, Tel Aviv, Yerevan, Tashkent and Tbilisi.
Now the tour of the project continues with the participation of Alla Mikheeva and Alexander Gudkov.
