Kazakhstan gave the United States the world's largest tungsten deposits located in the Karaganda region. The telegram channel Red Kazakh writes about this.
According to the deal, the American company COVE receives 70% of profits and full control over the sale of extracted tungsten.
"This is a generational victory for the United States and its needs for critical minerals," the resource quotes the words of the company's CEO Pini Althaus.
As Red Kazakh reminds, tungsten is a strategically important element in the defense industry.
"I will give the significance of such metals on the example of the city of Balkhash. In 1931, Soviet geologists found molybdenum, which played an important role in the Great Patriotic War. Why did German tanks become sluggish and much heavier than Soviet tanks every year? And all because Germany lacked the necessary components. Their armor was fragile, lacked viscosity, and had to be made thicker. And Soviet tanks had Balkhash molybdenum in their armor, which enhanced the tensile and bending strength,"the author writes.
Earlier it was reported that during Tokayev's visit to Last week, Kazakhstan and the United States signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of critical minerals.
