In Munich, where gunfire and explosions were heard this morning, a police operation continues. The police claim that the incident is related to a family quarrel.
The explosions occurred in the early morning, between 4 and 5 o'clock. Since then, a residential building has been burning near the intersection of Lerchenauer and Glockenblumen streets. A helicopter is circling over the area, the surrounding houses have been evacuated. Burned-out cars, including a minibus, are parked on the side of the road. Munich police and firefighters with a large contingent, including special forces from the main police department, have been deployed since 4:40 in the morning. Police sappers specializing in the disposal of booby traps also arrived. The danger of emergency services is still unclear, but they cannot approach the burning house, which is shrouded in a large cloud of smoke.
The police almost do not disclose details. So, she confirmed that a body was found on Lake Lerchenauer. It is assumed that this is the culprit. The police have not yet been able to confirm whether there are any more injured or dead, but reports that another person is missing. It is also unclear whether firearms were used.
Local media suggest that the incident may be related to the holding of the traditional beer festival in Munich — Oktoberfest. In this regard, many bus routes have been canceled or redirected.
"Serious traffic disruptions are possible. Please avoid this area," the police warned on the social network.
