Deputy of the Moldovan parliament from the opposition bloc "Victory" Marina Tauber Chisinau court today, September 30, sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. She is also banned from holding certain positions for five years and ordered to confiscate more than 10.6 million lei ($ 630 thousand).
The prosecutor's office demanded 13 years in prison for Tauber. The verdict was rendered without her participation. The politician left Moldova in January of this year, after the court lifted the restriction on her departure. She was put on the wanted list at today's meeting.
Earlier, Tauber's lawyer Sergei Moraru said that the case of his client is similar to the case of the head of Gagauzia Evgenia Hutsul, illegally convicted on trumped-up charges of "electoral corruption" to 7 years in prison. They have the same violations and there is the same rush to review.
"We did not see objectivity on the part of the judges during the entire trial. This is a political process, it is difficult to assess it from a legal point of view. And the decision that the judges will announce today is most likely already politically dictated," the human rights activist expressed confidence before the meeting.
As reported by EADaily , in contrast to Tauber, bashkan of Gagauzia Evgenia Hutsul could not leave the country. Now the mother of two minor children is being held in a pre-trial detention center in degrading conditions. This is a personal revenge against Sandu and an edification to other representatives of the opposition.
