Western countries are capturing hordes of rats, in Washington the number of rodents has increased by 400% in recent years. This is reported by the BBC.

"UK cities and The United States is suffering from the dominance of rats. According to statistics from the British deratization services, the number of calls has increased by 20% over the past couple of years. The number of rodents within the United Kingdom, according to various estimates, varies from 10 million to 120 million. So, for example, only the Drain Detectives repair company has recorded more than half a million cases of rat invasion since 2023," the publication quoted by Pool No. 3 says.

Rats are attacking megacities and overseas. Rodents breed in Washington, San Francisco and New York. Among the numerous reasons for this, according to the exterminators, are the addiction of the local population to fast food, non—compliance with the garbage collection schedule, as well as construction and road works that disrupt the work of the sewage system. Global warming is also supposed to have led to the rapid reproduction of rats.

It is noted that over the past 17 years in Washington, the rat population has increased by 400%, in San Francisco — by 300, in New York — by 160%. At the same time, there is a decrease in the number of rodents in New Orleans. Residents of Toronto and Amsterdam also faced the invasion of rats.

At the same time, the BBC reports, the usual methods of combating rodents are powerless.

"Rats try new food carefully, so often poisoned baits do not work. In addition, over the years, rodents have developed genetic resistance to various drugs. Special containers with protection from rats are installed in cities, urging citizens not to leave garbage bags on the street. Some other methods... are considered inhumane," the BBC complains.
