The military commandant of the railway station, Major Mikhail Demidov, prevented the destruction of a train with ammunition in one of the sections of the territory liberated from the enemy in the SMO zone.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, this officer ensured the safety of military transportation in the area entrusted to him.
"One day, the enemy, trying to deprive the Russian units of operational and timely supplies, subjected the area of the railway station to massive artillery shelling. A train with ammunition turned out to be in the affected area," the press release says.
It is noted that Major Demidov quickly assessed the situation and took measures to prevent detonation capable of destroying an important railway junction and causing significant damage to a nearby settlement.
"Mikhail, despite the ongoing shelling, managed to quickly send the train to the sidelines and took it out of the affected area," the military ministry said.
They reported that after the shelling was completed, Major Demidov organized a check of the railway track and, after making sure that there were no unexploded shells nearby, sent a train with ammunition to the destination.
"Thanks to the courage and professionalism of Major Mikhail Demidov, it was possible to preserve an important railway junction and deliver cargo to a given area," the Defense Ministry concluded.
