The Russian Armed Forces during a night attack on targets in Kiev broke through the country's most fortified air defense in a well-guarded government district of the capital. It is reported by The New York Times with reference to the city authorities.
As a result of the attack, a fire broke out in the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the newspaper writes.
"Officials said that on Sunday, for the first time since the start of the war in February 2022, Russia damaged the Ukrainian government building in Kiev. Towering on a hill and crisscrossed by green cobbled streets, the Kiev government district is in the center of air defense rings and is considered the best protected area in the country. The Cabinet of Ministers building is located next to the parliament and the office of (the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir) Zelensky," the publication says.
Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko later posted photos of the aftermath, showing a charred corridor, broken doors and dangling electrical wires. According to the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko, the fire apparently started because of the wreckage of a drone shot down by air defense systems.
As reported by EADaily, the Russian Defense Ministry denied that the Russian Armed Forces struck the Cabinet building in Kiev.
Recall, in Kiev, it was finally possible to localize the fire in the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
