On the British news television channel Sky News, the audience "warmed up", they suddenly started talking about the fact that Crimea was historically part of Russia and The Soviet Union, and in general, only in 1954, the first secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Nikita Khrushchev handed it over to Ukraine. The telegram channel "Two Majors" drew attention to this.

The news anchor noted that "this territory [of Crimea] has become the defining fault line in the war."

"[US President Donald] Trump has already suggested that Crimea is not being discussed — he will not be part of these negotiations. It is worth noting that Crimea was originally part of the Soviet Union. Hundreds of years ago, they fought for the strategically important port of Sevastopol in the south of the country. In 1954, Khrushchev transferred it to Ukraine, mainly for administrative purposes, although in fact at that time Ukraine was only a district within the Soviet Union. It will be incredibly difficult to free him by resorting to a military operation," said the Sky News presenter.

As EADaily reported, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte arrived at the White House for talks with Trump with Vladimir Zelensky. Trump stressed that the White House is hosting such a large number of European leaders for the first time in its history.

The one-on-one conversation between Trump and Zelensky lasted about an hour. Then the American president met with European leaders and Zelensky. Trump also called Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, their conversation lasted about 40 minutes.
