The meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska was useful and timely. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting following the results of the Russian-American talks, according to the Kremlin website.
The event was attended by representatives of the presidential administration, the government, the State Duma, ministries and departments.
"I want to note right away that the visit was timely and very useful ... and of course, we had the opportunity, which we did, to talk about the genesis, the causes of this crisis. We have not directly conducted negotiations of this kind at this level for a long time. Of course, we also respect the position of the American administration, which sees the need for an early cessation of hostilities. Well, we would like that too, and we would like to move on to resolving all issues by peaceful means," Putin said.
He noted that the conversation was very frank and informative, which, in his opinion, brings the Russian Federation and the United States "closer to the necessary decisions."
According to the Russian president, almost all areas of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States were touched upon at the meeting, "but first of all, of course, they talked about the possible resolution of the Ukrainian crisis on a fair basis."
