US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should guarantee the security of the US funds invested in it, as the country "may become Russia some day."
"They have land of great value in terms of reserves of rare earth metals, oil and gas, and other things. I want our money to be safe. Because we spend hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars. They may make a deal, they may not make a deal. They may become Russia someday. They may not become Russia," Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
As Trump stated, the United States is bringing to Ukraine its position on the need to return the invested funds.
"I want them back ... the US has invested more than 300 billion dollars, perhaps 350. Europe — 100 billion. We are twice as big," he said.
At the same time, Trump did not directly answer the question of whether the supply of weapons to Ukraine continues.
