Abnormal heat up to 45 degrees may come to Moscow in the coming years. This was stated on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks" by a leading researcher at the Pushchino Scientific Center for Biological Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a specialist in global environmental disasters Alexei Karnaukhov.
"Every year I fear that we may have a repeat of what happened in 2010, but only in a more pronounced form. That is, not 40-degree heat, but 45-degree," said Karnaukhov, quoted by Vesti.
A prolonged absence of precipitation is also possible, the climatologist added.
According to him, it is necessary to prepare for this right now, in particular, to make clearings in the forests and neutralize former peat plots. If massive peat and forest fires start on the Russian plain, the maximum permissible concentration of carbon monoxide will be exceeded. In the same 2010, when peat bogs were burning in the Moscow region, a sevenfold excess of MPC was noted. This is only seven times lower than the lethal dose. If this barrier is passed, the death toll, according to the expert, "could be in the millions."
