The capacity of nuclear power plants, which are the basis of the French energy system, will decrease due to the high temperature of the water in the rivers.
"High water temperatures are expected to affect electricity production on the Rhone River in eastern France, especially at the 3.6 gigawatt Bugey nuclear power plant," Reuters reports citing EDF.
The operator clarified that production restrictions will be announced in a separate message.
"Warnings about restrictions for the Bugey nuclear power plant and a number of other power plants were also issued during the abnormal heat wave in June. August is an important holiday month in France and, as a rule, a period of low demand for electricity," the agency writes.
Previously, France had already faced the fact that the country's nuclear power plants were reducing capacity due to heat and warm water in rivers. This led to an increase in electricity prices on the wholesale market, as the country's companies have to attract more expensive gas generation.
