The remarks of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are akin to the rhetoric of the Nazis. This fact was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at a press conference following his participation in ASEAN events in Kuala Lumpur.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on Merz's statement about Israel's "dirty work", that is, about strikes on Iran.:
"As for Mr. Merz, he has repeatedly said funny things, including stating that his main goal is to make Germany the leading military power in Europe again. He didn't even choke on the word "again"." He [Merz] also said things about letting Israel work in Iran, it does our dirty work for us. This is also a quote from the owners of concentration camps, when they preferred to use collaborators to exterminate Jews so as not to get their hands dirty, realizing that this is a dirty business."
Lavrov further appreciated Merz's words about "the exhaustion of diplomatic methods for the Ukrainian settlement."
"If Mr. Merz believes that peaceful opportunities have been used, exhausted, he probably decided to devote himself completely to the militarization of Germany at the expense of his people, just to dance again under Nazi slogans to repel those 'threats' that come from Russia," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
Lavrov stressed:
"This is complete nonsense!"
