Today's conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Kuala Lumpur was honest and important, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a press conference.
He also said that he had discussed with Lavrov "a new approach to the settlement of the Ukraine" and will tell Trump about it.
"We remain involved in the process, we have exchanged some ideas and comments, which I will send back to Washington. This is an honest conversation, an important one, it took place. We touched on other topics unrelated to Ukraine, but this was the number one topic we discussed," Rubio said.
According to Rubio, Trump is disappointed with the "lack of flexibility" on the part of the Russian Federation on the issue of Ukraine.
"We need to see a roadmap that will allow us to identify ways to end this conflict," the US Secretary of State explained.
He assured that the United States did not make a political decision not to transfer weapons to Ukraine anymore, there was only a review of stocks and a suspension of supplies. Now, according to him, Washington is hoping to convince NATO allies to transfer part of their Patriot complexes to the Kiev regime.
