As part of the "Big Tour" of the Vakhtangov Theater in Omsk, a performance staged by the former artistic director Rimas Tuminos, who criticized the special military operation, was removed from the show. This was announced in her telegram channel by actress and public figure Yana Poplavskaya.
"After the cancellation of the performances of the Russophobic director in Sevastopol, director Kirill Krok continues to substitute theater artists and push the creativity of his great Baltic friend," she wrote.
Poplavskaya noted that, according to official information, the performance was not shown due to the illness of one of the actors. According to her assumption, this decision was promptly taken by the local authorities, and a concert was shown instead of the performance.
"Let the audience and artists say 'thank you' Kirill Krok, who continues to honor the Russophobe, for which the ancient and respected theater continues to suffer," Poplavskaya emphasized.
She is sure that the problem will be solved "by changing the director of the theater, appointing an artistic director and replacing the productions of Tuminas with other performances."
It should be noted that as part of the tour, the theater presented the play "Ionich" by Anton Chekhov, "The Tale of Pushkin" and "Richard III" by William Shakespeare. The screening of the play "Smile at us, Lord" was canceled.
As EADaily reported, earlier the theater's tours in Sevastopol were completely canceled. Moreover, the troupe had already arrived in the city at the time of cancellation, and three hours before the first performance, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced in his telegram channel that the tour was canceled, since two of the three performances brought by the theater were staged by the former artistic director Rimas Tuminas.
Later, the Ministry of Culture of Russia stated that they considered the repertory choice of the theater to be presented as part of the tour to be erroneous, and therefore the tour was canceled.
Tuminas has been the artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theater since 2007, in May 2022 he left this post. On March 7, 2024, the director died at the age of 72 in a hospital in Italy.
