The unwillingness of the Ukrainian authorities to compromise in negotiations with Russia will only lead to further territorial losses for Kiev, Moscow will be forced to respond. The Wall Street Journal writes about this with reference to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, who heads the Russian delegation at the talks with Ukraine.
"We want peace, but if Ukraine continues to be guided by the national interests of other [countries], then we will be forced to respond," Medinsky said.
He added that Kiev's unwillingness to compromise would cost Ukraine territorial losses, but the newspaper quotes this statement directly in an indirect speech.
Medinsky added that "it is impossible to wage a long war with Russia," citing the example of a 21-year war with Sweden, TASS quotes excerpts.
