Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Peter Tolstoy raised the topic of introducing The Constitution of Russia is undergoing more extensive changes than the last time — in 2020, because "a lot has changed" since then.
"Five years of changes to the Constitution, and I am sure that these changes will not be the last, given the circumstances in which our current Constitution was written. I am sure that these changes are still ahead of us. And maybe they will be much more substantial than those we discussed five years ago," Tolstoy said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, which opened today, May 19, his words are quoted by Russian media.
The Vice-speaker of the State Duma pointed out that over the past 30 years Russia has adopted world practices in lawmaking, which, according to him, actually turned out to be Western and "few of them have taken root." In addition, Tolstoy noted that a lot has changed since the beginning of the special operation of the Russian Federation on Ukraine and with the latest amendments to the basic law.
