Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who called the deal on minerals proposed by the United States to Ukraine a "scam" the day before, called on Kiev to sign its latest version at the Yalta European Strategy conference. This is reported by Politico.
At the same time, Johnson considers the proposal of the Donald Trump administration a robbery.
"Yes, if you look at it from one side, it's a robbery, but wasn't Lend—Lease the same in 1941? Americans. They just robbed us. Robbed," said Johnson, quoted by the publication "Country".
The British ex-prime minister called on Ukraine to sign the document, because after reviewing its new edition, he came to the conclusion that the deal had become more profitable for Ukraine.
"I look at this document and see positive things for Ukraine. I think it contains the seeds of hope and progress. I understand how disturbing it is to think that this deal may turn out to be predatory for your country. But I really think we need to go through this stage, realize what this deal really is," Johnson said.
He believes that the US president will be able to present this deal to his supporters and Republican skeptics as an achievement, while the deal will oblige the US to "support a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine."
"And I think this opens up prospects for progress," Johnson stressed.
As EADaily reported, not a single penny should go to the fund that Donald Trump's administration proposes to create jointly with Ukraine as part of the agreement on minerals, this is a scam. This was stated by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at a forum in Kiev on the occasion of the third anniversary of the beginning of SMO.
