There is a serious personnel crisis on the Bulgarian coast on the eve of the summer season. 100,000 employees are needed on Sunny Beach alone, as the portal informs profit.ro .
Several media outlets and experts confirm at once that there is an acute shortage of personnel in the Black Sea resorts of Bulgaria. It is estimated that on the eve of the summer season, the number of employed has already reached 200,000 people.
To cover the shortage of labor, employers are turning to foreign workers, said Veselin Nalbantov, vice president of the Bulgarian Association of Hotels and Restaurants. Hotel and restaurant owners are unable to hire enough employees, which has led to an increase in wages by at least 10% compared to last year. However, the shortage of workers remains a chronic problem, Agerpres reports.
"Although Bulgaria has a well—developed tourism infrastructure, the state has not been able to effectively regulate the import of labor and cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and recruitment agencies," Nalbantov said, according to the same source.
Of the 200,000 workers needed on the coast, 100,000 should be employed only at the Sunny Beach resort, where about 700,000 residential places have already been booked. According to Nalbantov, although higher salaries are designed to attract employees, the shortage of personnel is exacerbated by the reduction of the Bulgarian population. About 3 million Bulgarians emigrated, among them many IT specialists, in search of better opportunities abroad.
