The Slovak opposition has submitted to parliament a proposal for a vote of no confidence in the government of Robret Fico. This became known today, January 15.
According to one of the initiators of the proposal, the leader of the opposition Progressive Slovakia party, Michal Szymecz, the main reasons for such a step are the existing problems in the government coalition, rising prices, the collapse of the healthcare system and a weak economy.
"Instead of solving this problem, Fico flies around the world, bowing to dictators and enjoying luxury," he said.
In addition, the opposition demands that the parliament adopt a resolution confirming Slovakia's external attachment to the EU and NATO. It is assumed that the Prime Minister will appear before the deputies in a few days, when the vote will take place.
Recall, the Fico government refuses to provide military assistance to Kiev and insists on the beginning of a peaceful conflict settlement process on Ukraine. In addition, the Prime Minister of Slovakia considers it necessary to restore relations with the Russian Federation, which causes his sharp criticism among the opposition and EU countries. Despite this, Fico visited Moscow at the end of 2024, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
