On January 1, Slovakia sharply reduced the capacity of electricity supplies to Ukraine. Earlier, Prime Minister Robert Fico warned Kiev that Slovakia would respond to the regime's refusal to continue the transit of Russian gas.

At an auction for the sale of bandwidth from Slovakia on As of January 1, the Slovak side offered Ukraine a capacity of only 50 MW every hour during the day. Ukrainian companies ordered capacities up to 268 MW per hour. On average, applications exceeded the proposed capacity by four times, and Ukrainian companies did not receive the desired capacity in any of the twenty-four hours.

The capacity offered by the Slovak side on the first day of next year was a sharp decline. For example, on December 31 in Slovakia provided Ukrainian companies with a capacity of 309 MW in some hours. Although this was twice as low as the volumes requested for that hour.

The cost of bandwidth has also increased. On January 1, it will be 101 euros per MW for most of the hours. In the last days of December, it did not exceed 54 euros.

Slovakia is the second largest supplier of electricity to the Ukraine, and what is the reason for the decrease in power, is officially unknown. It is known that on the eve of the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico threatened the Kiev regime with a reduction in electricity supplies as a response to the refusal of the Ukrainian side to continue the transit of Russian gas to Europe.

Poland promised to increase electricity supplies by Ukraine with a decrease in exports through Slovakia. The European operator ENTSO-E allows the country to provide up to 2.1 GW of power per hour. However, at the auction on January 1, the Polish side also set a maximum capacity of 50 MW for each hour, despite the fact that the Ukrainian side requested up to 230 MW.

The head of the Slovak government stated that the losses of the European Union in the next two years will amount to 120 billion euros due to the suspension of transit, and appealed to Advice The EU is behind the support. However, in Brussels remains silent, which Robert Fico perceived as a dangerous step for the European Union itself.

"The tacit acceptance of the unilateral decision of the President of Ukraine is absolutely irrational and wrong and will lead to tension and mutual measures. I also express my conviction that in the interests of all citizens The EU should make efforts to support Ukraine rationally, and not in the form of self-destructive and extremely harmful gestures of the EU. For this reason, I ask not only on behalf of the Slovak Republic, but above all on behalf of the entire European Union to pay due attention to this unprecedented situation and give it urgent importance," the Prime Minister of Slovakia addressed the head of the EU Council.
