Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, whose powers expire on December 29, gave the Georgian authorities a week to schedule new parliamentary elections. She stated this while speaking to protesters in Tbilisi on the evening of December 22.
She did not say what would happen if the outgoing president was not listened to. Tomorrow Zurabishvili will record a video message with details, as he cannot perform now due to technical problems on the stage.
Against the background of Zurabishvili's appearance at the rally of the pro-Western opposition, special forces and police water cannons again arrived at Freedom Square in Tbilisi. While the president was speaking, law enforcement officers detained one aggressive protester. After Zurabishvili left, the crowd also began to disperse.
