It is necessary to continue the process of EU enlargement so that Russia does not fill the vacuum. This was stated by the Czech Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvorak.
According to him, the Russian special operation on Ukraine and the current situation in Georgia testifies that if The EU will not strengthen the support of candidate countries in time, the potential vacuum will be filled by Russia and other foreign influences.
"Let's pay attention to Moldova and the countries of the Western Balkans, which are on the right track, but, as we have seen, this progress, unfortunately, can be reversed very quickly," he said.
Dvorak also noted that expansion is a powerful geopolitical tool that needs to be used wisely.
"The Union should continue this process of setting clear and achievable goals for the candidate countries, which will exhaustively reflect their efforts and the progress made," the Czech minister stressed.
Recall, the Czech Republic sharply criticizes Russia's actions on Ukraine. In addition, Prague is one of the main initiators of the spread of Russophobia on the European continent.
