Honored Artist of Russia, Premier of the Mariinsky Theater Vladimir Shklyarov died. This was reported by the press service of the theater.
"Tonight, the audience's favorite, the star premier of the Mariinsky Theater, Vladimir Shklyarov, tragically died. This is a huge loss for the entire staff of the Mariinsky Theatre. We offer our condolences to the artist's family, friends and all the numerous fans of his work and talent," the message says.
Shklyarov was 39 years old.
Vladimir Shklyarov was born in 1985 in St. Petersburg. Graduated from the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy (class of teacher V. I. Afanaskov) in 2003.
In the same year he was accepted into the Mariinsky Theatre troupe. In 2009 he won the First Prize and the gold medal of the International Ballet Competition in Moscow. Since 2011 — the premiere of the Mariinsky Theatre. Over two decades of his stage career, his repertoire has become truly immense. He is equally magnificent in classics and drambalet, masterpieces of choreography of the twentieth century and modern productions.
