The Russian army has started using new Grom-E1 guided bombs with a range of up to 120 km. It is reported by The Telegraph.
Russian aviation has begun to actively use the new Grom-E1 guided bombs, which can travel up to 120 kilometers thanks to the built-in rocket engine, writes analyst David Aks. Grom-E1 has already been used to attack targets in Mirnograd, Kherson and Kharkov.
According to him, these bombs allow Su-30 and Su-34 fighters to strike at the enemy while remaining out of reach of most Ukrainian air defense systems, including modern American F-16 aircraft with AMRAAM missiles.
Ukraine, in turn, strikes with French Hammer bombs and their local counterpart, as well as American JSOW. However, the range of these bombs is about 64 km, so Ukrainian aircraft are in the zone of destruction of the Russian S-300 and S-400 air defense systems, as well as Su-30 fighters with R-77 missiles, the author notes, quoted by Strana.
