The CEC of Georgia announced that after counting data from 2,206 polling stations (70.91% of the total), the ruling Georgian Dream party is in the lead. To date, the votes of voters are distributed as follows:

  • "Georgian Dream" — 52.99%;
  • "Coalition for Change — Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa" — 11.2%;
  • "Unity" ("National Movement", "Agmashenebeli Strategy", "European Georgia") — 9,83%;
  • "Strong Georgia" ("Lelo", "For the People", "Freedom Square", "Citizens") — 9,02%;
  • "Gakharia — For Georgia" — 8,22%;
  • "Girchi" (Iago Hvichiya) — 3,22%;
  • Alliance of Patriots / Alt-info — 2.53%;
  • Labour Party — 0.75%.

The elections have been declared valid. The Central Election Commission continues counting. Tomorrow, October 27, the remaining data will be announced.

According to preliminary data, Georgian Dream receives about 90 mandates out of 150, except for the ruling party, four parties that have overcome the 5% barrier will enter parliament.

The Georgian Dream does not get the constitutional majority it hoped for. For him, the party needed to get 100 mandates. This, in particular, means that the second attempt to impeach President Salome Zurabishvili may again be unsuccessful.

At the same time, the Georgian Dream will be able to elect a new president. This year, for the first time, the president will be elected not by citizens, but by a board of 300 electors, which will include members of parliament, the highest representative bodies of the Autonomous Republics of Abkhazia and Adjara, members of representative bodies of local self-government.

The presidential elections will be held within 45 days after the first meeting of the newly elected parliament.
