Russia has requested information from Azerbaijan and Georgia on the possibility of importing electricity in the amount of 600 MW during emergency regimes, Alexandra Panina, a member of the Board of Inter RAO, said on the sidelines of the All-Russian Tariff Conference.
"Yes, we requested two countries: Azerbaijan, and asked about the possibility of supplying Georgia. The possibility of import is being considered, and we have requested the capabilities of two neighboring power systems to be supplied during emergency regimes," TASS quoted Panina as saying.
According to her, the company has not yet received answers from Georgia and Azerbaijan. The Russian Federation will try to do without importing electricity, but in case of emergency, it can turn to the power systems of neighboring countries, Panina said.
"If there are emergency modes, then, at the request of the "System Operator", we would appeal to two power systems — Georgia and Azerbaijan — with a request to keep under us, to be ready to supply us with 300 MW each," she added.
