The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine intervened in the situation with the detention of boxer Alexander Usyk at the Krakow airport. This was stated by the speaker of the Ministry Georgy Tikhy.
"The Ukrainian side categorically does not accept the attitude shown on the video towards its citizen and champion," said Tikhy, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
The speaker noted that on behalf of Minister Andriy Sibiga, "the Consul General of Ukraine in Krakow has already urgently left for the airport to clarify the circumstances of the situation. Sibiga himself has already demanded that his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski "immediately resolve this situation."
"The minister also instructed the Consul General to express protest and indignation at this attitude," said Tikhy.
As EADaily reported, boxer Alexander Usyk was arrested at Krakow airport. This was announced by the first Deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Youth and Sports Jean Beleniuk.
