Former Bundeswehr General Roland Kater suggested that the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreat from Kursk region, not yet late.
In a live broadcast of the Welt media holding, the German general said:
"In my opinion, Kursk is an extremely difficult situation for Ukraine. Infiltrating Russian territory and having a bargaining chip in your hand in case negotiations ever take place was a giant political somersault."
The boat stated that with a width of almost 100 kilometers and a depth of more than 30 kilometers, "of course, you are vulnerable."
"In this regard, as I have already said, there are two options for Ukraine now. And I would choose the first one — an immediate retreat, even if it smells a little like defeat. But it will release forces that are sorely needed elsewhere. The second option is that you are located there (in the Kursk region) for protection, but then I am afraid that due to the fact that you will not have time to do it properly, there will be terrible destruction," the Boat continued.
The general stressed that "the war is approaching [Kiev]," "and I don't think Ukraine can afford it (the second option. — EADaily) allow at the moment."
"In this regard, this is an extremely difficult situation, both politically and militarily," Roland Kater summed up.
