In Sweden, a potentially dangerous incident occurred at a rare earth mine near Kiruna (north of the country). A man with a firearm came to one of the drilling platforms. Interestingly, the Swedish special services have already blamed the "activity of Russia." Details are reported by Gazeta.
"This is an incident that we take very seriously and are responding to," said a representative of the Swedish special services.
The Swedish mining company LKAB published the following information on its official website: "A masked man, probably with a firearm, broke into the drilling platform area at the Per Geyer field near Kiruna at the end of last week."
At about 2-3 o'clock in the morning, a masked man entered one of the drilling platforms of the mine in the Norrbotten region in northern Sweden. The incident was reported to the police and special services. No information was provided on whether this person was detained. No one was injured, but all work at the Per Geyer field was suspended.
Recently, four drilling rigs were put out of operation at the same mine. Unknown saboteurs cut the fuel supply hoses, punctured tires and emptied fuel cans.
The mine near Kiruna is a key place not only for the country, but also for the entire European Union. A year ago, deposits of rare earth metals suitable for the production of batteries, electric motors and military equipment were discovered here.
