A painting by one of the founders of impressionism, the French artist Claude Monet (1840-1926) "Wheat Field" (Champ de ble), was put up for sale in Russia. The corresponding offer is published on the portal of the Remote Bidding Center.
The description of the lot specifies that this is an original genuine work of art from a private collection. It is stored in a closed depository in Moscow.
"The painting was brought to The Russian Federation in compliance with the legislation of European countries and the Russian Federation. The work is a cultural value of more than 100 years old. Import through the customs of the Russian Federation is officially registered with the accompanying examination and a European-style permit, as well as documents for export from Europe. It is possible to re—export and transport to Europe, " the report also clarifies.
The 66×82 cm painting is in excellent condition, without damage, dated 1881 and signed by the artist.
The initial price is 1,039 billion rubles.
The estimate, according to experts of Christie's auction house, is $ 12.5 — 16.5 million (about 1.108 — 1.462 billion rubles).
Applications from potential buyers are accepted until December 30 of this year.
