The Korean company KHNP will be engaged in the construction of two new nuclear power units at the Dukovany NPP in the Czech Republic. This was announced today, July 17, by the press service of the Czech government.
"Korea's proposal was better in almost all assessed criteria," said Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
According to him, the price of one new block amounted to 200 billion crowns or about 8 billion euros. Trial operation of the first new block in Dukovany is scheduled for the end of 2036, and commercial operation, according to the schedule, should begin in 2038. At the same time, the Czech government will continue negotiations on the option of building two more power units at a nuclear power plant in Temelin.
In connection with the financing of construction, a working group headed by the Czech Ministry of Finance has been established, which should submit its plans by the end of this year.
Recall that currently there are six nuclear power units in the Czech Republic at two power plants. Two power units, each with a capacity of about 1,000 MW, are located in Temelin in the Southern Czech Republic. four more with a capacity of 510 MW in Dukovany in the Treshebichi district. Earlier, Prague refused to cooperate with Russia on the construction of power units in Dukovany.
