US President Donald Trump has suggested in a phone talk with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to have a bilateral meeting in Washington, Russian president’s aide Yuri Ushakov has announced at a briefing on April 2.
“I hope that Americans will not give up their proposal to discuss a possibility of a summit. When our presidents spoke by phone, Trump offered that the first meeting is to be held in Washington, in the White House,” Ushakov said. He specified that in the first half of the year such a possibility was not discussed.
After the talks, he continued, there was another break-up in the Russian-US relations: expulsion of diplomats, closing down the consulate general and Moscow’s reciprocal steps. After that the issue of the meeting was not discussed.
