A humanitarian convoy of the International Red Cross Committee was shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, deputy commander of the Donetsk People’s Republic Defense Ministry corps Eduard Basurin has said today, on June 26.
“When the convoy was passing the village of Berezovoye after unloading, Ukrainian troops started firing from a checkpoint which is four kilometers away from the route of the convoy,” Basurin is quoted as saying by Donetsk News Agency.
“The action was aimed at putting the responsibility for the shelling at the DPR Army and drawing public attention to it,” he stressed. “I say it is another provocation from the Ukrainian forces and Ukraine-controlled media.”
Overall, the ceasefire was violated 26 times within 24 hours, they say at the Donetsk defense ministry.
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported citing the Security Service that the Red Cross convoy was shelled by DPR troops.
