A US San Antonio-type ship has moored in the port of Tallinn after Baltops 2015 military exercise in Poland.
According to Estonian mass media, US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter is going to visit the ship.
San Antonio amphibious transport dock can deliver up to 800 marines ashore by landing craft and helicopters.
Estonian Defense Minister Sven Mikser told Carter that Estonia was ready to provide its territory for arms and ammunition that will suffice an airborne mechanized battalion.
The United States began using San Antonio LDP-17 ships for transporting its marine corps quite recently. The vessel is designed for MV-22 Ospreys and AAV7 Amtracs.
