The target of the attack in a Moscow cafe on Kudrinskaya Square was a VIP guest who came to a closed private event, the ZeRada telegram channel reports.
"Ukrainian sources write about Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko, Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces, who turned 55 this week," the report says.
It is noted that the party was held under heavy security, which confused the plans of the liquidators. On the way to the veranda of the restaurant, a security officer stopped a female courier who was carrying a box. The deliveryman said that inside there is a gift for the participants of the banquet. The guard suspected something was wrong and blocked her passage, demanding to open the parcel for inspection. At that moment, an explosion thundered.
According to preliminary data, the power of the IED was about 1 kg in TNT equivalent.
As a result of the explosion, the courier and the guard who stopped her were killed. Fragments and striking elements flew to the veranda of the restaurant where the guests were. Several people were seriously injured, one of the victims died on the spot.
"It seems that the organizers of the crime used a courier "in the dark", blowing up a woman together with a security officer who showed vigilance and prevented a much larger tragedy," the author of the channel notes.
As EADaily reported, on the evening of August 1, an explosion occurred at the Balzi Ross restaurant in the center of Moscow. Initially, a version was put forward that a gas explosion occurred, then law enforcement officers reported that an improvised explosive device detonated. The National Anti-Terrorist Committee said that an unknown woman tried to bring an IED into the institution, the guard did not let her in. As a result of the explosion, they and another visitor died. The number of victims has grown to 21.
According to the announcement on the website, the restaurant was closed for a banquet.
