Poland is negotiating with foreign partners on the possibility of building a second nuclear power plant in the country. This was announced by Polish Energy Minister Milos Motyka.
According to him, the Americans, French, Canadians and Koreans are fighting for a contract to build a second nuclear power plant in Poland.
"Poland will hold a competitive dialogue with individual suppliers of nuclear technologies, which must fulfill two of the most important conditions," he said.
Negotiations on energy development are taking place during the ministerial conference of the International Energy Agency in Paris.
"Firstly, it is a low price for the production of electricity and the provision of the appropriate capacity of this power plant. Secondly, it is an appropriate technology that also guarantees the long‑term participation of Polish companies. That is, at least 60% of the participation of Polish companies in the entire supply chain," the Polish minister said.
Recall that there is not a single nuclear power plant in Poland. Only in December 2025, the European Commission approved a package of measures to support the construction and subsequent operation of the first Polish nuclear power plant, recognizing it in accordance with EU rules on state aid. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said earlier that number one on the list of potential locations for the second nuclear power plant is Belhatow.
