Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia to singer and State Duma deputy Denis Maidanov. The relevant decree has been published on the official portal of legal information.
The document states that Maidanov was awarded the honorary title "For his contribution to the development of national culture and art, many years of fruitful activity."
Maidanov is a deputy of the State Duma (United Russia) from September 2021. He holds the post of first deputy chairman of the Committee on Culture.
Maidanov is a laureate of the FSB of Russia Award (2015), the Ministry of Defense Award in the field of culture and art (2017), as well as the Rosgvardiya Award (2022). In 2017, Maidanov was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
As EADaily reported, in August last year, the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) filed charges and put Maidanov on the wanted list. On the SBU website, the deputy is classified as a person sentenced to imprisonment.
