The State Department approved the sale of spare parts for military equipment to Ukraine for $ 185 million. This is stated in a message on the agency's website. This was reported by the Pentagon's Office of Military Cooperation.
"The Government of Ukraine has requested the purchase of Class IX spare parts to support vehicles and weapons systems supplied by the US Army, as well as other related logistics and program support elements," the statement said.
It is noted that Ukraine "urgently needs" to strengthen the maintenance capabilities of such machines and systems.
The proposed sale of equipment and support will not change the military balance in the region and will not require a referral to Ukraine has additional representatives of the US government or the contractor, the department stressed.
"The proposed sale will not have a negative impact on the combat readiness of the United States. The actual cost will be lower depending on the final needs, budget allocations and signed sales agreements, if and when they are concluded," they added.
The Defense and Security Cooperation Agency has sent the necessary notification to Congress.
