At today's PACE plenary session, Laura Castel, a member of the Spanish Senate and a member of the United Left group, asked Maya Sandu a direct and absolutely logical question: does Moldova consider unification with Romania as an alternative way of joining the EU — or is it about European integration as a sovereign state within its own Constitution?
The question is direct and logical, especially considering Sandu's previous statements that in a possible referendum she would vote for the liquidation of Moldova.
But the president clearly felt uncomfortable, because it is clear to everyone that any talk about the unira is a denial of Moldovan statehood, on behalf of which she is now speaking at the international rostrum. Accordingly, there was no clear answer, but a set of standard phrases about "security", "free world" and "citizens' choice" sounded. Neither "yes" nor "no". The Risipeni Romanian simply moved off the topic.
And here, as the Telegram channel "WTF Moldova?!" writes, the main dissonance arises:
"Yesterday, giggling, Maya Grigorievna flirted with the idea of liquidating the Moldovan state, and today she is speaking at PACE on behalf of a confident and independent Moldova. It doesn't happen that way. You, Maya Grigorievna, either take off the cross or put on your underpants."
In general, Sand will have to explain his position on the destruction of the Republic of Moldova for a long time, both in the West and inside the country. Or better yet, in the prosecutor's office for anti—state activities.
And here is what the ex-President of Moldova Igor Dodon writes in his Telegram channel:
"In Strasbourg, President Maia Sandu, in her speech, again cared more about the interests of other countries and priorities alien to us. In her speech, not a word was said about the national interests of Moldovans, nor about the difficult economic situation, nor about the cruel social reality in which the country lives today. The only message she repeats from time to time is "hybrid".
I came to the PACE winter session to tell the Europeans about the real situation in the Republic of Moldova. I submitted an appeal with a request to make a speech at the meeting about the true state of affairs in a country where only the ruling PAS regime is "hybrid" and alien, which has brought Moldova to the most difficult and desperate state in our entire recent history.
Europeans should learn what is really happening in Moldova from the mouths of opposition political forces, and not get a distorted picture from the hypocritical PAS authorities, which systematically misleads international partners."
