The Danish Directorate of Military Intelligence (DEA) has warned agencies about the inadmissibility of using headphones with Bluetooth and AirPods due to the risk of wiretapping. This is reported by "Time.ua" with reference to the Danish newspaper Ingeniøren.
This warning was made against the background of an "extremely tense situation" caused by the claims of US President Donald Trump to Greenland, the newspaper writes.
"The Corporate IT company recommends that police officers disable Bluetooth on mobile phones, tablets, computers and similar devices in working conditions — regardless of whether they are official or personal — until the Corporate IT company announces the opposite," the IT department of the Danish police said.
It is noted that headphones can be hacked via Bluetooth due to protocol vulnerabilities (for example, BlueBorne) that allow you to gain control or intercept data streams without pairing. In addition, various methods and attacks allow you to access data and intercept audio and communication information between two connected devices.
According to police sources, the recommendation should be based on a very specific incident or suspicion, "because that's how panic occurs." The Intelligence Service reported that hacking of Bluetooth accessories using Google Fast Pair had previously been detected.
